How to play Ghosted Rooms

Ghosted Rooms is a logic puzzle where you split the board into rooms that match the allowed shapes.

Tip: start from the border — there are fewer possible placements there.

Quick start

  1. Check the allowed shapes under the grid.
  2. Select exactly one full shape-sized room of connected cells.
  3. Correct rooms lock in; wrong ones flash red and clear.
  4. All numbers inside the same room must be different.
Goal: partition the grid into rooms that match the shown shapes, without overlaps or gaps.

Core rules

  • Each room must match one allowed shape, including rotations and reflections.
  • Every room must cover exactly the cells of that shape.
  • Numbers printed in the grid belong to their room and must stay distinct.
  • The puzzle has one unique solution.

Playing in the app

  • Selecting rooms: drag across cells or tap them one by one until you cover the full size.
  • Auto-check: a complete selection is checked immediately.
  • Replay: use the replay button to restart the puzzle.

Helpful tips

  • Border rooms are usually easier to place first.
  • Eliminate placements that repeat numbers inside one room.
  • Use confirmed rooms to reduce the choices for nearby cells.
